Comparing Patient and Informant Ratings of Depressive Symptoms in Various Stages of Alzheimer?s Disease Lead Investigator: Dov Gold Institution : William James College E-Mail : dov_gold@williamjames.edu Proposal ID : 964 Proposal Description: The overarching aim of the study is to explore the relationship between self-reported and informant-reported depression in AD patients at various levels of impairments. Using a spectrum of impairment consisting of four levels, patients will initially be placed into groups based on their scores on of two separate global measures of functioning, as well as a composite score of global functioning to determine if a discrepancy emerges between self and informant ratings of depression across the levels of impairment. However, as the use of global measures of functioning alone has been cited as a limitation of other studies, this study will also compare self and informant ratings of depression when patients are placed into groups based on their performance on tests of isolated domains of cognitive functioning.
